WANTAGE IN HARMONY

Next performance - 7th December 2025

Join us on Sunday the 7th of December at Wantage Parish Church for a feast of Christmas music - old and new, we are featuring Caritas Children's Choir and all profits will be donated to the Parkinson's Charity. MARY DID YOU KNOW – Mark Lowry & Buddy Greene – A contemplative and emotionally resonant Christmas song. The lyrics explore the awe-inspiring idea that Mary’s newborn child would one day perform miracles, redeem humanity, and embody God Himself. JOYFUL, JOYFUL – The title track of the concert, the hit song from Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit is a dazzling, gospel-infused reinterpretation of the classic hymn “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee,” and it’s pure musical electricity. IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR – A jubilant Christmas classic written by Edward Pola and George Wyle in 1963, famously performed by Andy Williams on his first Christmas album. MERRY CHRISTMAS! A joyfully jazzy song expressing Christmas wishes and wishing all a Very Merry Christmas. OVER MY HEAD Arr. Emily Crocker. A stirring African-American spiritual. Whether performed by a unison choir or reimagined with jazz and gospel inflections, “Over My Head” continues to uplift and inspire. SOON AND VERY SOON – Andrae Edward Crouch. A gospel classic that radiates hope and anticipation. The musical style is a simple, repetitive structure, making it easy to sing and deeply moving. AFRICAN NOEL – Victor C. Johnson. A vibrant and joyful Christmas carol that blends African musical heritage with the celebration of Christ’s birth. With Repetitive and uplifting—“Sing Noel, Sing Noel, Sing we Noel”—the song invites everyone to join in the celebration. JESUS, WHAT A WONDERFUL CHILD – Traditional Spiritual. Arr Rollo Dilworth. A jubilant gospel celebration of the birth of Christ, bursting with soul, rhythm, and reverence. SOMEWHERE IN MY MEMORY – John Williams. This song is the emotional heart of the 1990 film “Home Alone”.

Thursday 12th December 2019 – Christmas Concert
Wantage Parish Church
5th June 2019 – Wantage Summer Festival Choir Night
The Beacon in Wantage
27th April 2019
The choir performed publicly for the first time on 27th April 2019, guesting at a tribute to Mario Lanza featuring John Hudson of the English National Orchestra.
One of the choir members commented afterwards “I’m so glad you pushed us to be as good as possible for our first concert as it made for a wonderful experience to just be singing together last night with your brilliantly helpful and entertaining conducting. I know how imperfect my voice is (and I don’t think I’m the only one) but, with your help, together we can make a much better sound than you’d expect! So glad we didn’t let you down last night and that the audience enjoyed it. It was also lovely to hear John Hudson’s concert. I’m looking forward to the new repertoire and more enjoyment.”
